Hag Dyke needs your help 22 September 2014 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D We are looking for some new sofas for Hag Dyke…can you help? As you will know, Hag Dyke is our Group’s hostel situated on the slopes of Great Whernside above Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales. The hostel relies on volunteers, donations and fund raising in order that we can continue to provide a fantastic adventure location not only for members of our own Group, but hundreds of young people in other groups from around the country. Some of the Leaders in the Troop are also Wardens at Hag Dyke. Some of the soft furniture in the lounge at Hag Dyke has reached the end of it’s life, and we are looking for donations of leather sofas that we can take up to the hostel as replacements. Why leather? Leather has proved to be far more resilient and hard wearing than cloth…put simply it stands up to the wear and tear from cubs, scouts, explorers and guides far better. If you are replacing your sofa, or have one to spare, we would love to hear from you. One of the Wardens will arrange collection and take it up to the hostel. Please complete the form below, press “Submit” and someone will be in touch. Error: Contact form not found.

Please take this opportunity to check that you are clear on all the arrangements. Visit the Summer Camp 2014 page where you can see all the circulars that have been issued and refresh yourself on the arrangements for camp. By now you should have: Made the final payment Completed the Nights Away Permission Form giving emergency contact details and important health and dietary information Checked out the suggested kit list Please note below some important information: Personal equipment Please bring your child’s personal equipment to the Scout Hut on Thursday 14th August between 18:00 and 19:00. Please make sure that your child’s bag is clearly labelled with their name and their section, SCOUTS. Spending money We will be running a “Camp Bank” during the week. You can deposit your child’s spending money into the bank and we will keep it safe until they need it. We suggest a maximum of £10. If you want to take advantage of this, please bring the money on Thursday 14th August when you bring the personal equipment, and give it to Mrs Hopi. Cakes & buns As with last year, we would be extremely grateful if parents could provide some cakes / buns for “elevensies” during the camp. These will be used for ad-hoc snacks for the Scouts during the week. Please bring these on Sunday when your child sets off for camp. Set off Please make sure your child is at the Scout Hut for 09:30 on Sunday 17th August to catch the coach to camp. Full uniform must be worn. Bring with them a day rucksack with waterproofs, packed lunch, a water bottle that can be used during the week and a change of clothes (t-shirt and shorts) so they can get changed out of uniform when they get to camp. Finally, I hope everyone is looking forward to camp. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
