Santa Float 19 December 2012 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D Reminder of the start time for the Santa Float. Will those Scouts who have been asked to help on the Santa Float on Friday remember that you need to be at the Scout Hut before 6pm. The float will depart at 6pm. For all others, the meeting starts at 7:15pm as normal.
Very Important – Change of meeting place for tonight – 14th December 14 December 2012 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D Please note, the meeting tonight will be at the Scout Hut and not on the moor. Due to the poor weather and the forecast for this evening, we have decided to hold the meeting at the Scout Hut, and will rearrange the wide game for the New Year. Still non uniform this evening.
Fundraising – Tesco bag packing, Sunday 16th December 2012 12 December 2012 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D Help is needed with our most important fund raising event this Sunday. We are again allowed to raise funds by helping shoppers at Tesco pack their shopping bags. This is a great way to raise money for the Troop, and also shows us off to the local community . We need volunteers (scouts and parents) though to help on Sunday. Our time slot is between 10:00 and 16:00 and we expect to run 3 shifts. 10-12, 12-2 and 2-4. Please can you think about which shift you can do, and send an email to the leaders inbox ‘leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk’ before Friday to let us know. We will confirm the shifts on Friday at Scouts. We do also need parents to help us make sure that the children are properly supervised, so please offer to help as well. Thank you for your support.
Friday 14th December – Wide Game 12 December 2012 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D The meeting on Friday will be a wide game on Ilkley Moor. The meeting will be at the usual time, but will start and finish from the little car park by the paddling pool. The meeting is none uniform, but you must wear hiking boots (not shoes or wellies) and have warm clothes and waterproofs .

We have now planned the next period of programme which you can see on the programme page. Click here to be taken to the programme. A couple of highlights include a presentation by an outdoor equipment specialist (a good source of ideas for Christmas presents) and our annual winter trip to Hag Dyke on 11th January 2013. More details on the Hag Dyke weekend to be issued soon.
Remembrance Service – Sunday 11th November 9 November 2012 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D This Sunday we will be joining the local community in attending a service of remembrance in Ilkley. All Scouts are encouraged to attend this important event and represent the Scouting movement at the service of remembrance in the memorial gardens in Ilkley town centre. Please meet in the main car park (behind Betty’s) at 14:15 wearing full uniform including smart shoes. Scouts can be collected from same place after the service has finished at approximately 15:30. Please make every effort to attend and join our local community, and indeed millions of people across the country, and remember those men and women who have made such sacrifices in conflicts over the years. A collection for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal will be taken during the service. Remember, this event is taking place in November, so consider wearing extra clothes underneath your uniform to keep warm.
