Weekend Camp 24th June 2011

   |   By

We will be holding a weekend camp between Friday 24th June and Sunday 26th June at Fulwith Mill Farm in Harrogate.

Please follow the links below to download the letter and permission form that you will need to reserve a place on the camp.

We camped on this site last year and had a fantastic weekend, so we are certain to have a great time again.  MAKE SURE YOU DON’T MISS OUT…!

It is especially important for all those attending Summer Camp as it is perfect practice before the big one in the summer.  If you are going to summer camp, please make sure you come on this weekend.  It is, of course though, open to everyone.

A suggested kit list can be found on the ‘Useful Forms’ page of this web site.  Please return the form and payment by 10th June.

Lifting the torch for 1st BR

   |   By

On Friday 6th May, Scouts from across Wharfedale competed in the annual Torch Race up Otley Chevin.

The Torch Race is a relay race run which starts from the clock tower in Otley town centre, and goes straight up the hill to the top of Otley Chevin.  The winning team is the first team to ‘break’ the flag at the top.

1st Ben Rhydding fielded a team for the race, and we are delighted to say that we WON!!!  Not only that, but the Troop were also awarded the ‘Smartest Troop’ award for the pre-race inspection.

Congratulations to all who took part.

Scout Meeting – Friday 8th April 2011

   |   By

The meeting on Friday night will be up on the Moors and will include a hike and training in navigation techniques.

Please meet at the Cow & Calf car park at 19:15 and come prepared to be outside – whatever the weather.  You must be wearing hiking boots, but additionally bring waterproofs, hat, gloves, torch and a water bottle.  Please bring waterproofs even if it is not raining, as the weather may change during the evening.  You can always put them in a small day sack.

The meeting will finish at the normal time of 21:15, and please pick up from the Cow & Calf car park.

Do something funny…have a sleepover

   |   By

As I am sure you will know, Friday is Red Nose Day (as well as Scouts).

You may be wanting to watch some of the events on the television, but that doesn’t mean that you need to miss Scouts and miss the sleepover.  As part of the meeting and the sleepover we will be showing some of the Red Nose Day programme on the big screen.

So, if you are coming to the sleepover, don’t forget to download and print off the form and bring it to the meeting.  Also, no need for uniform

Scouts starts back Friday 7th January

   |   By

Happy New Year everyone!

Welcome to 2011, a year that is going to be very busy from a Scouting point of view.  This year sees our Dutch friends from the De Mohicanen group in The Hague coming to visit us for Summer Camp in Cumbria so be sure to keep up to date on all the information as plans for the camp and the week in Ilkley develop.

Some immediate dates for you.  Scouts start back on Friday 7th January.  The meeting will be at the Scout Hut, in uniform, and at the usual time of 19:15 – 21:15.  The week after, Friday 14th January is our Hag Dyke weekend.  If you are not coming to Hag Dyke then there will be no meeting on 14th January.  If you didn’t get a chance to return your form for Hag Dyke before Christmas then there is a final chance, but we must know by Tuesday 4th January.  Please email leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk to let us know you want to come, and bring the permission form and money on Friday.
