Hag Dyke Open Weekend 11 September 2022 (updated 22 September 2022) | By Callum D HAG DYKE SCOUT HOSTEL AT KETTLEWELL IS CELEBRATING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS OPENING ON SATURDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2022. THE HOSTEL WILL BE OPEN TO ALL VISITORS FROM 11 a.m. UNTIL 5 p.m. Anyone with an interest in or previous connection with Hag Dyke will be very welcome. The day’s main focus will be a special service of commemoration plus memories and future thoughts at 3pm at our Chapel, The Highest in England. We will also have a Souvenir booklet, displays of historic pictures & zine displays. A special badge has been designed for the Anniversary and will be on sale on the day. Wardens will be on hand to show visitors around and to explain the facilities to previous and new visitors. Tea, Coffee & Cakes will be supplied but please bring your own packed lunch etc. Donations are encouraged for Hag Dyke’s Future Work. We have arranged car parking in the field on the right hand side immediately after the bridge as you enter Kettlewell. If you would like to make a voluntary donation of £3.00 for car parking this will be shared between Hag Dyke and Kettlewell Parish Church. Please can all visitors register there including those intending to drive up in their own vehicles. There will be uniformed members there to assist visitors with maps and instructions. If you have requested transport you should also meet here at the agreed time. There will be the option for Wardens, Past wardens, Working party, Leaders & Reunion Group ONLY to stay over but there obviously are limited spaces so do make your interest known asap please. A new young trainee Wardens scheme will also be explained briefly which is especially aimed at 18 to 30 year olds. Therefore, Explorers and Young Leaders are specially encouraged to attend. We are appealing for details of your most enjoyable, first experiences of Hag Dyke and any other memories you have. These will be displayed plus there will be the opportunity to read some of these out at the Service. We suggest twenty to fifty words. We would also like pictures of your own visits to Hag Dyke to produce a rolling picture show on the day. PLEASE REPLY IF YOU INTEND TO COME ALONG SO WE HAVE AN IDEA OF LIKELY NUMBERS. RSVP to enquiries@hagdyke.org.uk and we encourage you to look at our Website for all information https://hagdyke.org.uk
