Important information for Scouts attending Hag Dyke 10 January 2015 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D If you are going to Hag Dyke on 16th January, please remind yourself of the important information below. Next Friday, 16th January, sees us make our traditional New Year visit to the Group’s hostel, Hag Dyke. If you are going, please meet in the main car park in Kettlewell at 20:00 prompt ready to walk up to Hag Dyke. There are some important points to remember: We will be walking up to Hag Dyke. Therefore, you need to be wearing outdoor clothing, have waterproofs and must be wearing walking boots that provide ankle support (“walking trainers” are not suitable for Hag Dyke). Footwear will be inspected in the car park, and any Scouts who do not have walking boots with ankle support will not be able to go to Hag Dyke. Scouts need to carry all their personal equipment up to Hag Dyke, therefore this should be in a rucksack with nothing tied on the outside. Make sure you have enough waterproof and warm clothing. The weather on the hills can be very different to the weather in Ilkley, so be prepared and check out the kit list on the “Useful Information” page of the website. Any questions, please ask a Leader. We hope that everyone going has an enjoyable weekend.

Hag Dyke needs your help 22 September 2014 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D We are looking for some new sofas for Hag Dyke…can you help? As you will know, Hag Dyke is our Group’s hostel situated on the slopes of Great Whernside above Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales. The hostel relies on volunteers, donations and fund raising in order that we can continue to provide a fantastic adventure location not only for members of our own Group, but hundreds of young people in other groups from around the country. Some of the Leaders in the Troop are also Wardens at Hag Dyke. Some of the soft furniture in the lounge at Hag Dyke has reached the end of it’s life, and we are looking for donations of leather sofas that we can take up to the hostel as replacements. Why leather? Leather has proved to be far more resilient and hard wearing than cloth…put simply it stands up to the wear and tear from cubs, scouts, explorers and guides far better. If you are replacing your sofa, or have one to spare, we would love to hear from you. One of the Wardens will arrange collection and take it up to the hostel. Please complete the form below, press “Submit” and someone will be in touch. Error: Contact form not found.
