Do something funny…have a sleepover

   |   By

As I am sure you will know, Friday is Red Nose Day (as well as Scouts).

You may be wanting to watch some of the events on the television, but that doesn’t mean that you need to miss Scouts and miss the sleepover.  As part of the meeting and the sleepover we will be showing some of the Red Nose Day programme on the big screen.

So, if you are coming to the sleepover, don’t forget to download and print off the form and bring it to the meeting.  Also, no need for uniform

Scouts starts back Friday 7th January

   |   By

Happy New Year everyone!

Welcome to 2011, a year that is going to be very busy from a Scouting point of view.  This year sees our Dutch friends from the De Mohicanen group in The Hague coming to visit us for Summer Camp in Cumbria so be sure to keep up to date on all the information as plans for the camp and the week in Ilkley develop.

Some immediate dates for you.  Scouts start back on Friday 7th January.  The meeting will be at the Scout Hut, in uniform, and at the usual time of 19:15 – 21:15.  The week after, Friday 14th January is our Hag Dyke weekend.  If you are not coming to Hag Dyke then there will be no meeting on 14th January.  If you didn’t get a chance to return your form for Hag Dyke before Christmas then there is a final chance, but we must know by Tuesday 4th January.  Please email leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk to let us know you want to come, and bring the permission form and money on Friday.

Hag Dyke January 2011

   |   By

Our next visit to Hag Dyke is coming up on the weekend of the 14th to 16th January 2011.

Please make sure that you visit the Hag Dyke January 2011 page here to download the letter and permission form. This is our traditional ‘Christmas’ visit and is certain to be great fun. As well as activities on the hills around Hag Dyke we will also enjoy a Christmas Dinner, maybe with some special guests.

As the weather may be cold and wet, it is important to have the right clothing. There is a suggested kit list on the Useful Forms page, which can also be a handy source of ideas for Christmas presents! Please note the closing date of 17th December for returning the permission form

IMPORTANT – Night Hike Cancelled

   |   By

With regret we have taken the decision to cancel the night hike over the moor that was planned for this Friday. With the depth of snow and uncertainty over the weather forecast we feel it is too much of a risk to go ahead. This will now be rearranged for another date in the future. Scouts is still on tomorrow though, but the meeting will be at the Scout Hut and the usual time. No need to come in uniform, but please come prepared to be outside, with boots, waterproofs, hat, gloves etc. Fred has come up with a great activity for us to do in the snow. Look forward to seeing you all there.
