Fundraising – Tesco bag packing, Sunday 16th December 2012

   |   By

Tesco carrier bagHelp is needed with our most important fund raising event this Sunday.

We are again allowed to raise funds by helping shoppers at Tesco pack their shopping bags.  This is a great way to raise money for the Troop, and also shows us off to the local community .

We need volunteers (scouts and parents) though to help on Sunday.

Our time slot is between 10:00 and 16:00 and we expect to run 3 shifts.  10-12, 12-2 and 2-4.  Please can you think about which shift you can do, and send an email to the leaders inbox ‘leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk’ before Friday to let us know.  We will confirm the shifts on Friday at Scouts.  We do also need parents to help us make sure that the children are properly supervised, so please offer to help as well.

Thank you for your support.

Remembrance Service – Sunday 11th November

   |   By

This Sunday we will be joining the local community in attending a service of remembrance in Ilkley.

All Scouts are encouraged to attend this important event and represent the Scouting movement at the service of remembrance in the memorial gardens in Ilkley town centre.  Please meet in the main car park (behind Betty’s) at 14:15 wearing full uniform including smart shoes.  Scouts can be collected from same place after the service has finished at approximately 15:30.

Please make every effort to attend and join our local community, and indeed millions of people across the country, and remember those men and women who have made such sacrifices in conflicts over the years.

A collection for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal will be taken during the service.

Remember, this event is taking place in November, so consider wearing extra clothes underneath your uniform to keep warm.

Scout meetings start again on 7th September

   |   By

Scout meetings start again after the summer holidays on Friday 7th September, so make sure you are there.

The first meeting back will be held at the Scout Hut at the normal times of 19:15 to 21:15 and you should attend in uniform.  A full programme up to the half term holiday has been prepared and will be published in the next couple of days.

In order for us to manage our waiting list, it is important that we understand if any Scouts have decided that they will no longer be a member of the Troop.  Therefore, if your son or daughter has decided that they will not be attending any more we would be grateful if you could let us know by sending an email to leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk as soon as possible.  Any Scout who has not attended by 28th September it will be assumed that they have left, unless we hear otherwise beforehand.

Obviously we hope that everyone will choose to continue, and our programme for this half term will be great fun.  Look out for details shortly of our first weekend away which will be to Hag Dyke on 5th October 2012.
