The end of a fantastic summer camp 2 August 2016 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D This weekend the Scout Troop returned from Summer Camp in Northumberland having made lots of memories through an adventure packed week. Last week 29 Scouts went on Summer Camp to Red Steads Farm in Northumberland and had a brilliant week full of action and adventure. Amongst many highlights were a day hosted by the RAF at their base in Boulmer, and a two day expedition up the Northumberland coast. The troop were also joined by 9 Scouts from the 2nd Jersey troop in the Channel Islands and made many new friends. Over the next few days we will add many more photos to the web site so be sure to check back and see what the Scouts got up to.
Summer camp update 25 July 2016 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D The first couple of days on summer camp have gone well, and the weather is being kind to us. We arrived on site on Saturday afternoon and began the set up of camp. All the tents and shelters were up by Saturday evening and we were able to enjoy a welcome camp fire and give the Scouts from 1st Ben Rhydding and 2nd Jersey to get to know each other. On Sunday we spent time learning and practicing camping skills and getting all the tents and kitchen areas ship shape. Today we have been down to the beach and spent some time in Alnwick to buy dinner based on the scouts own menus. Some photos below.
Last Scout Troop meeting before camp 14 July 2016 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D The last Scout Troop meeting before camp will be held on Thursday 21st July rather than Friday 22nd July. Please note the details below. We will be holding our last Scout Troop meeting before we go to camp on Thursday next week rather than the normal Friday evening. The meeting will be a wide game on the moor. Please meet in the Cow & Calf Rocks car park at the normal time of 19:15. The meeting will finish in the Cow & Calf Rocks car park at the normal time of 21:15. The meeting is non-uniform so please come in activity dress.

Torch race this Friday 6th May 2016 2 May 2016 (updated 4 March 2022) | By Callum D This Friday is the annual district Torch Race. Please see the important information below. Wharfedale District is holding the annual Torch Race on Friday 6th May, and 1st Ben Rhydding are entering a team as usual. For those of you who don’t know what the Torch Race is, it is a relay race from Otley town centre to the top of Otley Chevin. It takes place every year and includes teams from almost all the Group’s in the District. If you are part of the Torch Race team: You must meet at the top of Station Road in Otley at 18:50 promptly. You must be in full, smart uniform with your running kit on underneath. This is because there will be an inspection by the District Commissioner before the race starts. You should be collected from the top of Otley Chevin at 20:30. If you are not part of the team: We encourage you to come along and support our team. Please meet at the top of Otley Chevin at 19:30 and be collected from the same location at 20:30. Best of luck to all in who are running.
