Remembrance Service – Sunday 11th November

   |   By

This Sunday we will be joining the local community in attending a service of remembrance in Ilkley.

All Scouts are encouraged to attend this important event and represent the Scouting movement at the service of remembrance in the memorial gardens in Ilkley town centre.  Please meet in the main car park (behind Betty’s) at 14:15 wearing full uniform including smart shoes.  Scouts can be collected from same place after the service has finished at approximately 15:30.

Please make every effort to attend and join our local community, and indeed millions of people across the country, and remember those men and women who have made such sacrifices in conflicts over the years.

A collection for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal will be taken during the service.

Remember, this event is taking place in November, so consider wearing extra clothes underneath your uniform to keep warm.

Scout meetings start again on 7th September

   |   By

Scout meetings start again after the summer holidays on Friday 7th September, so make sure you are there.

The first meeting back will be held at the Scout Hut at the normal times of 19:15 to 21:15 and you should attend in uniform.  A full programme up to the half term holiday has been prepared and will be published in the next couple of days.

In order for us to manage our waiting list, it is important that we understand if any Scouts have decided that they will no longer be a member of the Troop.  Therefore, if your son or daughter has decided that they will not be attending any more we would be grateful if you could let us know by sending an email to leaders@1stbenrhyddingscouts.org.uk as soon as possible.  Any Scout who has not attended by 28th September it will be assumed that they have left, unless we hear otherwise beforehand.

Obviously we hope that everyone will choose to continue, and our programme for this half term will be great fun.  Look out for details shortly of our first weekend away which will be to Hag Dyke on 5th October 2012.

Ben Rhydding Community Fete – Saturday 30th June

   |   By

We are having a stall at the Ben Rhydding Community Fete next weekend and need help with setting up and running it.

Next Saturday, 30th June, sees the annual fete take place on the old Middle School playing fields in Ben Rhydding.  The Troop will again be running a stall to showcase some of our Scouting and cooking and selling food.  We need Scout volunteers to help with setting up and running it.

PLs and APLs, can you please come down to the playing fields for 11:30 to help with pitching the dining shelters and setting the stall up.  All other Scout volunteers, can you please come down for 13:30 so that we are ready to start greeting visitors when the Fete opens at 14:00.  For the duration of the Fete, can Scouts please wear Uniform Shirt and Necker.  We need as much help as possible, so Scouts, please volunteer and help us out.

The Fete runs from 14:00 – 16:00, so can Scouts please stay until 16:30 to help pack away.

We hope that Parents will visit the Fete and support our stall as well, and of course any help will be gratefully received.
