Summer Camp – Closing Date and Parents Meeting

   |   By

As you will have seen from the Summer Camp circular, the closing date for deposits to be paid is Friday 13th January 2012.

Camp this year is a fantastic opportunity to spend two weeks in The Netherlands, spending time with our Dutch friends (many of which you will have met on last year’s camp) and to experience a week camping and a week living in the home of a Dutch family during the hospitality week in The Hague.

We appreciate that before signing up to camp you may have some questions.  Therefore, there will be a parents meeting on Friday 13th January at 20:45 in the Scout Hut.  The meeting is for anyone considering going to camp and parents of those already signed up to go.  It will be an opportunity for us to give you more information about camp, and for you to ask any questions.  You will be able to sign up to camp and leave the deposit at the end of meeting.

For more information and a copy of the first circular, please click here.

We really hope as many Scouts are able to go to Holland as possible, and look forward to seeing you at the meeting on Friday.

Happy New (Scouting) Year

   |   By

HNY, or as I prefer to say, Happy New Year!

Please note, Scouts starts back today (6th January) at the normal meeting time.  We will be at the Scout Hut and you should come in uniform.

There are a couple of things to remember:

1. The deadline for Hag Dyke is today.  Please bring your money and form.

2. Places for Big Camp are limited, so get your money and form brought back to Scouts as soon as possible to reserve your place.

3. The deadline for Summer Camp in Holland is Friday 13th January.  There will be a parents meeting to explain more about camp on 13th January (more details to follow this weekend) and you will be able to sign up for it then.

The new programme for this term will be posted here as soon as it is finalised.

We look forward to seeing you all for the start of a fantastic year of Scouting.

The Queen’s Jubilee

   |   By

In 2012 Her Majesty the Queen celebrates 60 years as the British Monarch.  The official celebration weekend takes place from 2-15 June 2012.

The Scout Association has produced an official badge to celebrate the occasion that can be worn on your uniform througout 2012.  Those of you who were at Scouts on 9th December will have received the Jubilee Badge, so please get this sewn on your uniform in time for starting back at Scouts in the New Year.  The badge is to be worn on your shirt in the ‘occasional badge’ position above the left breast pocket.

Please click on the link below to see the position of all badges on the uniform.

If you were not at Scouts on 9th December, you will be able to get your badge in the New Year.
