Ben Rhydding Fete

   |   By

This weekend sees the annual Ben Rhydding Community Fete.

The Scout Troop will be running a stall where people will be able to see some of the Scouts in action, learn more about the Troop and what we get up to and meet with some of the Leaders.  It would be great to see you all there and to support this local community event.  The Fete will be held from 14:00 to 16:00 on the former Middle School playing fields on Valley Drive.

To help us with our stall, we would like some volunteer Scouts.  You will be needed from 13:00 to help get set up, and will need to stay until 17:00 to help pack away.  During the fete you will be helping on the stall, doing a bit of cooking and talking to people about Scouts.  You will need to come in uniform, but if we have enough volunteers then you will get time to look around the fete too.

Please come to Scouts on Friday prepared to volunteer.

Hope you are all enjoying the Half Term Holiday.

Just a reminder that applications to join the weekend camp at Harrogate on 24th June must be in by Friday 10th June at the latest.  But, why wait?  Scouts starts back after the holiday this Friday, 3rd June, so why not bring your form and money in then?

If you are going to camp, you can download a suggested kit list from the Useful Forms page of this web site.  Just click on the ‘Kit List – Weekend camp spring-summer’ link.

The camp is going to be a great adventure, and a chance to learn new, and practice your current, scouting skills as well as work towards some of the badges.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Lifting the torch for 1st BR

   |   By

On Friday 6th May, Scouts from across Wharfedale competed in the annual Torch Race up Otley Chevin.

The Torch Race is a relay race run which starts from the clock tower in Otley town centre, and goes straight up the hill to the top of Otley Chevin.  The winning team is the first team to ‘break’ the flag at the top.

1st Ben Rhydding fielded a team for the race, and we are delighted to say that we WON!!!  Not only that, but the Troop were also awarded the ‘Smartest Troop’ award for the pre-race inspection.

Congratulations to all who took part.

Do something funny…have a sleepover

   |   By

As I am sure you will know, Friday is Red Nose Day (as well as Scouts).

You may be wanting to watch some of the events on the television, but that doesn’t mean that you need to miss Scouts and miss the sleepover.  As part of the meeting and the sleepover we will be showing some of the Red Nose Day programme on the big screen.

So, if you are coming to the sleepover, don’t forget to download and print off the form and bring it to the meeting.  Also, no need for uniform
