Scout Updates | By Admin Ilkley Half Marathon Support The Scouts once again helped at Ilkley Half Marathon but running one of their water stations to keep the runner well hydrated. Luckily not as baking hot as last year but it was still dry. A fun day was had by everyone! 16 July 2023 Scouts Hag Dyke June 2023 An absolutely fantastic weekend up at Hag Dyke! Weather was hot but a good breeze on the summit made it good for walking. Arrived up late on Friday for a supper and bed. Learning about hill safety, how UWFRA keep people safe and help people in the countryside, and even to practice some rescue skills including ropework, learning what the landrovers carry, and how to assemble and carry someone on the stretcher! All the… 13 July 2022 Scouts help at the Ilkley Half Marathon Ilkley’s Half marathon, organised by the round table was a very hot event for all! 1st Ben Rhydding Scout Troop helped out by runnning one of the water stops along the route to keep all the runners (and helpers!) hydrated and motivated throughout the tough event 10 July 2022 Scout Hike across the Moors Had a fantastic evening hiking right across Ilkley Moor. The weather held out right until the end and all the scouts kept a good pace. 5km completed, navigation skills practiced, and all scouts in good spirits at the end; a cracking walk for a great evening! 18 May 2022 Scouts win at the torch race again! After the last two torch races in Otley got canceled due to covid, we once again returned to our annual district race. Ilkley Explorers retained the trophy for the explorer race, and 1st BR Scouts retained our trophy for thhe scout race. Fantastic result for the group and cracking effort from everyone there. A really… 10 May 2022 Troop Training Camp Fantastic Friday evening and Saturday morning spent practising a few of the basics we’re going to need for our upcoming camps. Great work from everyone getting all the jobs done in the short time we had. 2 May 2022 Winter Hag Dyke Scouts have just returned from another fantastic winter weekend at our Hag Dyke hostel on the side of Great Whernside. Our headquarters are on Wheatley Lane in Ben Rhydding and the scout section is for boys and girls aged 10½ to 14.
