Remembrance Day – Scout meeting on Friday and service on Sunday

   |   By

PoppyThe Troop will be taking part in the Remembrance Day service and parade on Sunday 13th November.  At the Scout meeting on Friday 11th we will be learning more about this important day.

The service and parade are an important event in our annual calendar, and we ask that all Scouts make the effort to attend as we remember those men and women who have given their lives in war and conflict.

We will assemble in Whitton Croft Road, behind the Town Hall, at 14:15.  The parade will move down Wells Road and The Grove followed by a service in the Memorial Gardens.  Scouts will be dismissed from the Memorial Gardens after the service at around 15:30.

Full and smartly presented uniform must be worn by Scouts, including smart school shoes and no trainers.  Please also consider supporting The Poppy Appeal by wearing a poppy.  A collection is usually taken during the service.

On Friday 11th November there will be a Scout meeting held as normal between 19:15 and 21:15.  We will be joined by Jack Rickard MBE, an ex-serving Officer who has had a varied military career, including tours of Afghanistan and Iraq.  Please make sure you attend the meeting in smart uniform and with your poppy.

The end of a fantastic summer camp

   |   By

Summer Camp 2016 Logo 2This weekend the Scout Troop returned from Summer Camp in Northumberland having made lots of memories through an adventure packed week.

Last week 29 Scouts went on Summer Camp to Red Steads Farm in Northumberland and had a brilliant week full of action and adventure. Amongst many highlights were a day hosted by the RAF at their base in Boulmer, and a two day expedition up the Northumberland coast.

The troop were also joined by 9 Scouts from the 2nd Jersey troop in the Channel Islands and made many new friends.

Summer camp update

   |   By

Summer Camp 2016 Logo 2The first couple of days on summer camp have gone well, and the weather is being kind to us.

We arrived on site on Saturday afternoon and began the set up of camp.  All the tents and shelters were up by Saturday evening and we were able to enjoy a welcome camp fire and give the Scouts from 1st Ben Rhydding and 2nd Jersey to get to know each other.

On Sunday we spent time learning and practicing camping skills and getting all the tents and kitchen areas ship shape.  Today we have been down to the beach and spent some time in Alnwick to buy dinner based on the scouts own menus.

Some photos below.
